Laurel School District NOTICE OF VACANCY Director of Transportation and Roadways SUMMARY: The Director of Transportation and Roadways is a critical leadership position responsible for the safe, efficcient, and reliable transportation of students within the Laurel School District. This role encompasses comprehensive management of all aspects of the transportation department, including personnel supervision, fleet maintenance, route planning, driver training, and ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, particularly within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Director will also serve as a working manager, actively participating in vehicle maintenance and driver training as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Additional education in transportation management, business administration, or a related field preferred. • Valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus (S) and Pas- senger (P) endorsements. • Valid Pennsylvania Department of Education School Bus Driver Instructor Certification. • Proven experience in transportation management, preferably in a school district setting. • Demonstrated experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, including diesel engine repair. • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to effectively supervise and motivate staff. • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. • Thorough knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations, particularly those applicable to Pennsylvania school districts. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Proficient in computer applications, including route planning software and transportation management systems. • Must be able to pass all required background checks.
